Many a fearsome creature lurks in the vast lands of Neverwinter, all hungry for some adventurer brains. But how should you act when you stumble upon a creature that doesn’t ring any bells in your knowledge of the wilderness and beyond. Luckily, we’re here to help you discern exactly what you’re facing and if you should really draw your sword to challenge it – or run away, cowering in fear.
With Neverwinter: Rise of Tiamat coming to Xbox One, we thought it fitting to start this series with the greedy wings of death: dragons, specifically, the green dragon.
Just as you read this entry, determining the best way to fell the green dragon looming in the distant forest, little do you know that it’s already aware of your plan and is weaving one of its own. Green Dragons are highly intelligent and often stalk their target in order to determine the best tactics to take them down. They do not mind the extra work required to defeat a skilled opponent and see it as more of a challenge.
Out of all the dragons, green dragons are most likely to meddle with social and economic affairs outside of its forest home. Their skilled use of persuasion allows them to question even the most fearful adventurer and can even coexist and “employ” another humanoid creature to do its bidding (an example of this is below).
In battle, a green dragon utilizes its breath attack, which spews a cone of poisonous gas or creates fields of poison, all in order to slowly wither the target’s life away. Get too close to a green dragon and it will use its powerful bite, claws and tail to ensure you don’t lay a finger on its gorgeous green scales. Even if you don’t think you’ve taken a hit, be mindful of your HP due to the numerous ways poison can be inflicted.
In the current game of Neverwinter for Xbox One, there are two notable green dragons: Charthraxis, who resides in Neverdeath Graveyard and Chartilifax the Mad, who has taken residence in the very depths of Helm’s Hold. Charthraxis was summoned by the Cult of the Dragon while Chartilifax has allied with the devils of Helm’s Hold, who aid him in battle in the Lair of the Mad Dragon dungeon, which remains one of the most difficult to date.
This concludes our brief entry for the curious green dragons. Next week, we’ll write on the acidic black dragons, who revel in cruelty.
